Seattle Product Photography for Ube Overload Bakery Brand

Ube Overload is a woman-owned, Filipina-founded small-batch bakery from Kent, WA creating baked goods infused with Filipino flavors – most notably ube. What began in 2021 as a passion project has grown into a bakery found at farmers markets, events, and retail locations across the Puyallup and Seattle region.

Their products – cookies, cinnamon rolls, mochi, scones, banana bread, and more – are known for both bold flavor and bold color, with the signature purple of ube at the center of their brand identity.

As Ube Overload prepared to refresh their e-commerce website and expand their product offerings, they needed a cohesive set of product images that would accurately reflect the quality, consistency, and personality behind their brand.

As a Seattle product photographer specializing in food and bakery brands, we help small businesses like Ube Overload create consistent, story-driven imagery for their online stores and marketing.

The Challenge

As the business grew, Ube Overload’s existing product imagery no longer reflected what the brand had evolved into. This is a common challenge for growing food and bakery businesses – their imagery that once worked no longer supports a larger product line or a more developed brand presence.

With new products, expanding retail placement, and a growing online store, they needed a consistent visual system for their products – one that would:

  • Maintain visual consistency across their entire online store
  • Reflect the care and quality behind each baked good
  • Support both e-commerce and marketing use
  • Strengthen brand recognition through cohesive storytelling

The goal wasn’t just better photos. It was a more intentional and unified customer experience across every touchpoint.

The Approach

The project began with a planning and alignment process to ensure every image would serve a purpose within the larger brand system.

It’s the standard for every client we work with, and it helps us define:

  • What products needed to be captured
  • Where each image’s primary intended use is (in this case, it was their e-commerce site)
  • How each product would appear in their e-commerce environment
  • Visual direction aligned with their brand colors and identity
  • Supporting props and storytelling elements
  • A structured shot list to ensure efficiency and coverage

As a product photographer, this planning stage ensures every brand-forward decision is made intentionally before production begins. That allows the focus to stay on consistency, storytelling, and execution rather than improvisation.

The Photoshoot

On set, the priority was building a controlled and repeatable visual system for the entire product line – focused on lighting, set development, and composition.

Each product was photographed within the same visual framework to ensure consistency across the website. Products with a shorter shelf life were prioritized first, ensuring texture, structure, and freshness were captured at their peak.

While each item required subtle compositional adjustments, the overall goal remained consistent: every image needed to feel like part of the same brand family when placed together on an online store.

A second session the next day was used to create a key website banner image designed to anchor the visual identity of the new site, incorporating cultural storytelling elements that connect directly to Ube Overload’s Filipino heritage.

The Outcome

The final deliverable included a cohesive collection of product images designed specifically for e-commerce and marketing use.

After capturing the full set, approximately 450 images were reviewed and refined down to a final curated gallery of 10 finished assets. Each image was edited for consistency in color, tone, lighting, and visual balance to ensure they functioned seamlessly as a unified collection.

Our mission as a Seattle product photographer is to create a complete, brand-aligned product library that allows Ube Overload to present their offerings with clarity and consistency across their website and marketing channels.

Instead of a mix of inconsistent images created at different times, they now have a single, cohesive visual system that reflects the quality and care behind every baked good they make.

More importantly, the imagery communicates what makes Ube Overload distinct – the vibrant color of ube, the craftsmanship behind each baked good, and the cultural roots that shape their brand story.

“I love working with Debbie and Jason. They helped bring our vision for our business to life. From the very first conversation, I appreciated how willing they were to work with us to capture exactly what we envisioned. The photos turned out amazing, and I can’t wait to use them throughout our website. Thank you!”

Why This Matters

For product-based businesses, your visuals are often the first point of contact with your customers. Before someone tastes your product or visits your location, they are making decisions based on what they see.

Inconsistent imagery can create confusion or weaken brand perception. A cohesive visual system builds trust, strengthens recognition, and improves the overall customer experience – especially in e-commerce environments where visuals are the product experience.

As a Seattle product photographer, our goal is to help food and product brands create consistent, story-driven imagery that reflects their brand, captures attention, and becomes a long-term business asset for growth.
